Endometriosis is a common medical condition that occurs when the tissues that line the uterus grow outside of it; on organs such as the fallopian tubes and the ovaries.

2. What are the symptoms of Endometriosis?

The most common symptoms of endometriosis are painful, irregular and abnormally heavy periods, pelvic and back pain, pain during intercourse, spotting, constipation, nausea, etc.

3. How is it diagnosed?

Doctors often diagnose patients by carrying out a pelvic exam, CTI, MRI or ultrasound tests, or a laparoscopy.

4. Who does it affect?

Endometriosis is often diagnosed in women between ages 25 and 40.

5. What causes Endometriosis?

The main cause of endometriosis is uncertain, although doctors believe it to be genetically transferable.

6. How does diet affect Endometriosis?

Food that is high in fat and contains inflammatory properties should be avoided as they often aggravate the symptoms of endometriosis. Instead, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and food that is high in fibre should be prioritised.
